Rootlok - Possible seed mixes

Our various seed mixes that are available when purchasing a Rootlok retaining wall system

Drought tolerant grass

drought tolerant

The Drought Tolerant Grass Mix will be an advantage to any drought area with the use of tall fescue, due to its fineness of leaf and the density of the shoot it produces. This means that the mix will provide an attractive, low maintenance but also hard-wearing alternative to the typical ryegrass mixtures.

This mix is ideal for lawns during the summer, as the roots of the tall fescue can reach depths of over 1m, which means that it can cope with extreme heat, drought but also the occasional water logging.

The species included in this mix will tolerate the dry conditions, once established, and this will provide you with a good quality, think lawn. Although this is a “drought” mixture, it can also tolerate shady conditions, and therefore is a good all-round mix. The addition of clover and legumes is beneficial as it produces nitrogen through their root systems provided long nutrient for vegetation.

Shade tolerant grass

shade

A mixture suitable for establishing grass in shady areas, either under trees or between buildings. The inclusion of a Dwarf Ryegrass will give quick establishment and act as a nurse crop for the slower developing shade tolerant species. It is important to note that infrequent mowing is the secret to a successful shade tolerant sward.

This mix is most suited to earthen construction where the sown seed will be in frequently shaded areas and north facing areas.
